I'm Bob, a 26-year-old Software Engineer living in Sunnyvale, CA. I spend my days working in R&D at DreamWorks Animation on the rendering team.
I recently graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, where I received my M.S. in Computer Science in 2012 and my B.S. in Computer Engineering in 2010.
My career focus is in graphics, although I also enjoy security and embedded systems. I've dabbled in projects ranging from synchronizing the Christmas lights on my house to music, to designing vehicle electronics for the Cal Poly Supermileage Team, to researching a feed-forward, asynchronous messaging and shading method for ray tracing large scenes across clusters of commodity machines.
In the past I've worked at iFixit and Dozuki, which are on a mission to teach the world how to do amazing things. I worked on everything from backend server administration to frontend JavaScript. It was an amazing place to work.
I also did a stint at Cisco Systems, where I wrote an internal SNMP performance testing tool for their biggest and baddest core routers, and worked in their R&D group developing UI prototypes for some patent-pending tech that, sadly, I can't talk about.

My blog is entitled SIGTTOU. That's the UNIX signal that a process is sent when it's in the background and tries to write to the terminal. I like to think of my blog as the place where all my background projects get to write to the terminal.
Sadly, the blog is down for maintenance at the moment. Hopefully I'll get some free time soon to bring it back to life.
Any code I publicly release shall henceforth be posted on my GitHub account, because Git is awesome and GitHub is just flat out sublime.

Once I get a bit more time on my hands, I'll detail some of my coolest projects here.
For now, check out some awesome videos!
If you think I'm interesting, you should follow me on Twitter. Fair warning, though: I'm not a very big Twitter user and mostly use it to publicly shame companies when they have poor customer service. You might not find that very interesting.

My resume is a single page in Adobe PDF format. Unfortunately it hasn't been updated recently, so it doesn't include my latest work at DreamWorks Animation.

If you're a generic recruiter or head hunter, please don't bother contacting me, I'm not interested.
However, if you represent a specific company, feel free to give me a call or shoot me an email. I'm always willing to chat.
